Online Casino Frustrations in US
There are a lot of reasons to find the US frustrating – and that’s without really hitting on the biggest political issues like foreign policy, the war, the economy, and the growing healthcare debate. Put those four majorly controversial issues to the wayside, and the US still has some very frustrating policies in place that are angering foreign countries and causing grassroots campaigns throughout the US. The online casino gambling issue is one of these areas. The United States government has made the internet gambling issue an international circus because of a generally dismissive attitude toward the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and further disregard for countries that have demanded compensation when the US full banned foreign online casinos from the US market, thus breaking international trade agreements.
And that’s just the federal government! There are a host of other issues on the state level that have also caused international concern – namely the state of Kentucky, and the stat4e of Washington. Kentucky is first on the list because state governor Steve Beshear has made a bit of a fool out of the state with the attempted domain name seizure from more than 140 online casinos and internet gambling related sites. The case has made international headlines for the past year – partly because the case was wholly ridiculous but yet pushed all the way to the state Supreme Court before being dismissed.
And if the Kentucky online casino domain name seizure were not enough, the state of Washington has the distinction of being the one state where gambling through the internet is right up there as an offense with child pornography. The state of Washington made internet gambling a felony offense several years ago and hasn’t made any attempts to overturn that ridiculously draconian piece of legislation.
